About Lauren
I've always been drawn to pregnant bellies and babies. Even as a child I remember wanting to hold newborns and being in awe of pregnant bellies. My earliest memory that involved an inquiry into birth was after I saw the movie "The Blue Lagoon." There's a scene where Brooke Shields' character gives birth in a squat position under a tree on a remote island. My curiosity ran wild as I asked tons of questions...
Fast forward 15 years...I'm surrounded by friends who are pregnant and am so in awe of the miracle occurring within their bodies...and have to admit, am a little jealous as well.
During this time I made the decision to become a yoga teacher and to make prenatal yoga my focus. I was paired up with an amazing mentor who in addition to being a Prenatal Yoga Instructor, is also a Birth Doula, a Lactation Consultant, and a Licensed Midwife. My true educational journey involving birth and pregnancy really began here.
Currently, my goals and dreams are hard to contain because I have so much passion for birth surging through me. In addition to being certified as a Yoga Teacher, a trained Birth Doula and Hypno-Doula, I am also a Breastfeeding Educator, a Student Midwife at Nizhoni Institute of Midwifery and a volunteer Childbirth Educator at BirthChoices in Long Beach.
