What if a C-Section is Needed?
I will be there with you regardless of what comes up during labor. For a mother who faces the chance of a c-section, whether planned or not, a doula can be extremely helpful by providing constant support and encouragement. Often times a c-section is an unexpected outcome and mothers are left feeling unprepared, disappointed, and alone. Some hospitals even allow doulas to join you in the operating room (others do not). If hospital policy allows me to be there, I absolutely will! By having a doula by your side throughout the procedure, you can understand what is going on and it allows your partner to be able to attend to the baby and provide skin to skin contact until you're physically able to.
