What To Expect From a Doula During Birth...
I will join you in your birthing process as soon as you feel my support is needed. For some, this means I meet you at your home before heading to the birth center or hospital; for others this may mean I meet you at the hospital whenever you choose. I will stay with you throughout labor and the birth of your child and will remain with you until breastfeeding is initiated.
As a doula I am trained to assist you with comfort measure techniques during early & active labor. I will also encourage participation from your partner and offer reassurance and encouragement. If questions arise, I will do my best to provide informational support. I will act as an advocate for you, encouraging you in your desires for the birth of your baby.
I will not judge your informed choices for birth and will encourage a positive birth environment whether you choose an un-medicated or medicated birth, homebirth, planned cesarean, etc.
