What is a Doula?

The word "doula" comes from the ancient Greek language meaning "a woman who serves." In todays terms, a doula is available to provide continuous emotional, informational, and physical support for pregnancy, birth, and beyond. A doula is there in a non-medical capacity to provide encouragement, information, and a plethora of comfort measures to assist you (and your partner) throughout your birthing process. My ultimate goal is to be a guardian of informed consent and to witness a woman and her family have a positive, empowering, and safe birth experience.
